Tips for
Choosing the Right Insurance Company
Having the
right insurance plan can protect you from risks you face
everyday. Coverage is not the same for all types of
insurances, so make sure you determine the one you need.
Are you looking for an
insurance company you can trust?
To
protect yourself from purchasing insurance from an
unlicensed company, follow these steps:
- Check
to see if the company is licensed in your state.
Licensed companies are required to provide annual
statements to allow the Insurance Division to evaluate a
company’s ability to pay claims.
- Check
the insurance company’s provider list and contact those
providers to see if they have had any experience with
the insurance company. Also, ask employers to see if
they have had experience with the insurance company.
- Check
to make sure your insurance agent is selling you a state
licensed insurance product. Contact the Insurance
Division if you think otherwise.
- Make
sure you are dealing with a trustworthy insurance
agent. Check the paperwork you receive from the company
to see whether the licensed insurer’s name is listed.
- When
paying for your insurance, never pay in cash and
remember to get receipts for all of your payments. Do
not forget to check all of your receipts to make sure
they have your policy number, date of payment, period of
coverage, and the name of the company on it.
- Most
importantly, read the policy. Make sure you understand
what your insurance covers. Don’t wait to find out what
is not covered when an accident happens.
